The Art of Remembering: a Geneology Project
Graduate Work
This body of work is an exploration of my family history. It is an attempt to collect my ancestors' stories and preserve them before they slip away. I want to share the sentiment of recalling and re-discovering, putting together the puzzle pieces of lives that make up a history, as much as I hope to preserve the stories themselves.
This work also constitutes a focused investigation of how we assign value to objects. While making this work I became acutely aware of how the value of an object’s usefulness, its sentimental value, and commercial value are interrelated and how they inform each other.
