Venus Alley
Undergraduate Work
This collection of work is based on stories from the Dumas Brothel in Butte, Montana. I continue to be fascinated by the lives of the women who worked at the Dumas and the way those lives imprinted upon the building’s physical structure. Their stories can be pieced together from artifacts found inside a wall, a ghostly path worn in the floorboards, a secret passageway and a corridor boarded up. In its current state of disrepair the building has a new kind of beauty, one that is richer because of its history. This work was done for my capstone project in my undergraduate program.
